Hotel Benton T-shirt
Some souvenirs survive because they’re priceless. Others survive because someone shoved them into a kitchen drawer and forgot about them for 77 years.
This design comes from a vintage Hotel Benton matchbook I stumbled across while digging through the past. Once one of downtown Corvallis’s grand hotels, the Benton welcomed travelers, hosted banquets, and watched the city grow up around it. The building is still there today, though these days you’ll have to supply your own matches.
The artwork has been preserved just as I found it—slightly worn, a little imperfect, and all the better for it. Flip the shirt over and you’ll find the matchbook’s original sales pitch proudly printed across the back:
