Maman Icon T-shirt
There are spiders, and then there is Maman. Louise Bourgeois’ enormous bronze spider stands outside the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, more than 30 feet tall and looking like she might step over the building and scurry off into the hills. We found her first in Sydney, then again in Bilbao and, naturally, took pictures. A lot of pictures. Because that's what you do when confronting a spider the size of a small apartment.
This shirt reduces Maman to her essentials—eight impossibly long legs, a relatively tiny body, and just enough violet linework to make her recognizable without turning your chest into a museum gift shop.
Printed large on the front of a soft, comfortable tee, the spare graphic preserves the wonderfully strange proportions that make Bourgeois' sculpture so arresting in person. No Bilbao. No Guggenheim. If you know, you know. And if you don't, you're still wearing a 30-foot spider.
